WE WILL PROMOTE THE PEACEFUL DEVELOPMENT OF CROSS-STRAITS RELATIONS AND EXPLORE “TWO SYSTEMS” TAIWAN PROGRAM TO ACCOMPLISH THE GREAT CAUSE OF NATIONAL REUNIFICATION—— RESEARCH ON XI JINPING’S IMPORTANT DISCOURSE ON THE TAIWAN STRAITS ISSUE

Abstract

          Xi Jinping’s speech on the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up policy and the speech on the 40th anniversary of the letter to compatriots in Taiwan aroused wide resonance in the country and abroad. This is related to how to correctly explore the “Two Systems” Taiwan solution and how to effectively advance the cause of China’s peaceful reunification. It is crucial to correctly understand Xi Jinping’s important statements regarding the Taiwan Strait. This study adopted several comprehensive research methods, namely the observation method, literature analysis method and exploratory research. The author interprets the core issues involved in Xi Jinping’s discussion on the Taiwan Strait and discusses how to correctly understand that “Chinese people do not fight with Chinese people”.
          In conclusion, this study related to the basic policy of China’s peaceful reunification states that the consensus is reflected in the three Sino-US joint communique, that the Chinese government will not take the aggressive path of reunifying the motherland by force, and the Kinmen Islands may be the first area that will be returned to the motherland, and the establishment of the government of the Taiwan special administrative region and implementation of the formulation of the basic law is an option for China’s peaceful reunification.
