บทคัดย่อ
บทความนี้มุ่งนำเสนอเกี่ยวกับความหมาย ที่มา การแบ่งประเภท และแนวคิดทฤษฎีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติ โดยจะเริ่มจากการชี้ให้เห็นว่าการใช้คำว่าผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติในการอธิบายทุกปรากฏการณ์ในความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศนั้นเท่ากับการไม่อธิบายอะไรเลย จากนั้นก็จะค้นหาจากรากศัพท์ของคำว่า “ผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติ” ว่ามีที่มาและเป็นผลพวงจากยุคฟื้นฟูศิลปวัฒนธรรมและการปฏิวัติวิทยาศาสตร์อย่างไร ต่อมาก็จะพิจารณาประเภทของผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติว่าสามารถใช้ปัจจัยใดในการแบ่งได้บ้าง และสุดท้ายคือการหันกลับไปพิจารณาตัวบททฤษฎีความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศ ว่ามีการอธิบายเกี่ยวกับผลประโยชน์แห่ง ชาติในกระบวนการนโยบายต่างประเทศว่าอย่างไรบ้าง
