บทคัดย่อ
บทความนี้มีจุดประสงค์ คือ 1) เพื่ออธิบายการเลือกตั้งประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ 2024 และนัยต่อสังคมอเมริกันและประชาคมโลก 2) เพื่ออธิบายขั้นตอนและกระบวนการการเลือกตั้งประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ ซึ่งเป็นกระบวนการที่ยาวนานมาก ตั้งแต่การเลือกตั้งขั้นต้น (Primaries และ Caucuses) การประชุมพรรคระดับประเทศเพื่อนำเสนอชื่อผู้แทนพรรค การนำเสนอนโยบายของพรรค การรณรงค์หาเสียงเลือกตั้ง ซึ่งจะเริ่มประมาณเดือนสิงหาคม การเลือกตั้งที่จะมีขึ้นทั่วประเทศในวันอังคารที่ 5 พฤศจิกายน การนับคะแนนคณะผู้เลือกตั้งอย่างเป็นทางการ จนกระทั่งถึงการสาบานตนเข้าสู่ตำแหน่งในวันที่ 20 มกราคม 2025 3) เพื่อชี้ให้เห็นถึงประเด็นสำคัญและจุดยืนของผู้สมัครในการรณรงค์หาเสียง อาทิ ประเด็นเศรษฐกิจ การอพยพเข้าเมือง สิทธิสตรีในการยุติการตั้งครรภ์ นโยบายต่างประเทศ ฯ ลฯ และ 4) เพื่อวิเคราะห์จุดอ่อนและจุดแข็งของกระบวนการเลือกตั้งของสหรัฐฯ ที่มีความเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง ระบบคณะผู้เลือกตั้ง การใช้เงินในการรณรงค์หาเสียงเลือกตั้งของผู้สมัครทุกระดับ
