The Influence of Media on Children and Youth’s Aggressive Behaviour

Abstract

            This article studies media that they, nowadays, have become a part of human daily life. Starting from opening eyes each day. The media have been interacting with humans almost all the time and every place; radio, morning news on television, sending messages among friends through various electronic platforms such as electronic mail (E-mail), Facebook, Twitter, Line, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. including newspapers, magazines, billboards, advertising media in various places that are difficult to avoid. The influence of media have both advantages and disadvantages. Especially, children and youth who may have insufficient maturity to segregate, distinguish, analyze information obtained from media consumption and finally lead to the absorption of violent behavior imitating behavior or those concepts.

          The study shown that there are 4 causes of problem; family factors, educational institutions, children themselves, and media, and the most effective prevention of aggressive behavior of children and youth are social engagement based on encouragement from family institution, family member should give love and warmth to children, cultivation and implantation of good value and social culture, admonishment for a mistake and giving a reason for punishment and appreciation for a good deed. Children would absorb behavior that is appropriate for their age, avoid wrongdoing as it will hurt their respected family members, The use of social media is permissible and will not cause any problem. Finally, the result lead to prevention that Family, educational institutions and children and youth networks should be involved in monitoring violent behavior through media, Including government and private sectors should consider how to control violence in the media and penalties of the media as well.
