A Survey and Comparison Results of Integrity and Transparency Evaluation from Answers of the Questions on Experiences and Opinions of the Learners in Classroom

Abstract

Corruption is fraud of benefit gaining. Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission has a duty for integrity and transparency assessment (ITA) of all state agencies and enterprises in every fiscal year. This is for prevention and control of this problem. School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), University of Phayao (UP) taught ITA for the 3^rd year students of both Medical Technology (MT) and Physical Therapy (PT) departments. Survey and comparison results of integrity and transparency evaluation from answers of the questions on experiences and opinions of the learners in classroom were conducted in 3 groups of students. The comparisons consisted of 2 pairs between the 3^rd year MT vs the 3^rd year PT students in academic year 2021 and between the 3^rd year PT students in academic year 2021 vs 2022. Three items for comparisons were integrity and transparency behavior of the students, ITA score of SAHS evaluated by the students and evaluated results by students on 14 integrity and transparency assigned behaviors compared to the results that evaluated by teacher. The results showed not significant different (p>0.05) of these 2 pairs in all 3 comparisons. These indicated that these 3 groups of students had similar behavior because they were in the same age group and had similar life experiences. However the findings of violation of traffic laws, involving in some corruption situations and corruption in learning activities and examinations were very interesting and undesirable. These undesirable behaviors shall be seriously campaigned for control and elimination or eradication out of Thai society as soon as possible. Operation of SAHS, UP is highly scored by students. This confirmed that the school is healthy in integrity and transparency. In addition youth can differentiate between corruption and non-corruption very well. Therefore teaching on the topic of corruption is not necessary. Campaigning for youth on realization and no involvement in corruption is more important and essential.
