A Study and Analysis of the Philosophical Foundations of Education

Abstract

The philosophy of education plays a critical role in guiding educational management, particularly through its influence on the formulation of educational foundations and values. Educational philosophy refers to the core ideals and ultimate principles that shape the purpose, direction, and organization of educational systems. It provides a conceptual framework for setting educational goals, designing pedagogical methods, and structuring learning processes. As such, it serves as the cornerstone for determining the aims of education and shaping teaching and learning practices, which are increasingly essential in addressing the challenges of contemporary education. This article seeks to explore the definitions and essential principles of educational philosophy through an analysis of key ideas proposed by both Western philosophers and Thai scholars, whose contributions have significantly influenced the philosophical underpinnings of Thai education. It further classifies and compares various schools of educational thought, identifying their commonalities and differences. Ultimately, the study aims to apply these philosophical insights to enhance pedagogical practices, ensuring they align with fundamental educational principles relevant to the modern era.
