Dhamma Practice Model, Management and Dhamma Practice Venue Affecting on Effectiveness in Meditation

Abstract

                The purpose of this research is to study the impact of the format of meditation retreats and the management of facilities where they are held on the degree of fulfillment participants experience as they practice meditation. This research employed quantitative research methods with data collected from 400 individuals who attended retreat(s) at the Young Buddhist Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage (YBAT) from 2016-2017. The data was then analyzed using hierarchical  regression analysis techniques. This research has found that in terms of the format of retreats, the wholesomeness of the program was the most significant factor in helping the participants to achieve a fulfilling experience. In terms of logistical factors, it was the venue and dhamma lecturers which had the most significant impact.
