บทความเสนอผลการศึกษาสุขภาพช่องปากของประชากรโบราณในพิธีกรรมการฝังศพครั้งที่สองในภาชนะดินเผาที่แหล่งโบราณคดีโนนป่าช้าเก่า บ้านกระเบื้อง อำเภอบัวใหญ่ จังหวัดนครราชสีมา กำหนดอายุประมาณ 1,500-2,500 ปีมาแล้ว ด้วยตัวชี้วัดสุขภาพช่องปากทั้งฟันผุและการสูญเสียฟันขณะมีชีวิต พบกลุ่มประชากรมีอัตราความชุกของรอยโรคฟันผุระดับต่ำและการสูญเสียฟันขณะมีชีวิตระดับสูง เพศชายพบการสูญเสียฟันขณะมีชีวิตมากกว่าเพศหญิงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มประชากรยุคก่อนประวัติศาสตร์ในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทยพบประชากรโนนป่าช้าเก่ามีอัตราการสูญเสียฟันมากกว่ากลุ่มประชากรในเขตลำน้ำมูลตอนบน แต่มีอัตราความชุกของฟันผุใกล้เคียงกัน แสดงถึงลักษณะและรูปแบบการบริโภคและอาหารที่คล้ายคลึงกัน แต่มีพฤติกรรมในชีวิตประจำวัน รวมทั้งระดับสุขอนามัยช่องปากที่ต่างกันในแต่ละกลุ่มประชากร
