A STUDY FOR THE MUSEUM INDENTITY OF KHO KAEN NATIONAL MUSEUM

Abstract

This study for the ‘Museum Identity’ of Khon Kaen National Museum is a method to identify the Museum Identity of Khon Kaen National Museum. The first methodology is documentation and research review. The second is sampling a group of the population in the questionnaire. The third method is creating a questionnaire and using it in a field study for quantitative data. The forth method is collecting data from a museum archaeology and art history specialist for qualitative data. Concluding the Museum Identity is the last step.

The results show that, Khon Kaen National Museum has two groups of Museum Identity. The first is a single identity regarding the ‘Boundary marker sandstone’ depicting Buddha’s life scene “Weeping-Pimpa”, and the second group identity is known as the archaeological museum that includes the North-East Dvaravati culture which is outstanding and has a ‘Boundary marker sandstone’ as important evidence in North-East Dvaravati culture. The Boundary marker sandstone depicting Buddha’s life scene “Weeping-Pimpa” is the main antique of the group’s culture, and it is the single museum identity of Khon Kaen National Museum.
