Abstract

This paper aims at presenting the results of a study on red painted disigns found on pottery in the Late Ban Chiang burial sites that were excavated from Wat Phosri Nai, Ban Chiang, Amphoe Nong Han, Udon Thani Province. This study was based on the previous studies on pottery designs at Ban Chiang archaeological sites.

The results of the study showed that the red painted patterns on the pottery can be divided into 89 different designs and categorized into 5 groups. Moreover, red painted designs changed 5 different times during the Late Period of Ban Chiang culture.
