Factors Influencing Debt Creation of Generation Y People in Thawangthong Sub-District Municipality, Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province

This study aims to investigate the factors affecting the debt formation of generation Y people in Thawangthong Sub-District Municipality, Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province. The research populations determined by the Taro Yamane’s sample size and the convenience sampling method were the 374 generation Y people in Thawangthong Sub-District Municipality, Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province. The questionnaire was a research tool for collecting data. Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression were used for data analysis.
The results of the study found that lifestyle, attitude, marketing mix, and economic factors influence the debt formation of generation Y in Thawangthong Sub-district Municipality, Mueang Phayao District, Phayao Province at a low level. Testing hypothesis result found that the lifestyle, attitude, marketing mix, and economic factors influence the debt formation of generation Y people in Thawangthong Sub-district Municipality, Phayao Province at a level of significance 0.05. Most generation Y people created debt due to a lack of knowledge of personal financial planning and the popularity of impersonation to follow a favorite person, so the relevant organization should educate the people on how to manage debt and personal financial planning.
