Modern Trade and Service Innovation Program Based on Stakeholder Requirements

Abstract

This research aimed to synthesize the components of university graduates’ desirable characteristics and curriculum design of the modern trade and service innovation program. This research employed mixed method, in the part of quantitative research the samples consisted of 864 cases of stakeholders in Songkhla province from multi-stage sampling. The research tools were a specialist interview form and questionnaires. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed to determine the construct validity by using LISREL. The key informants of qualitative research consisted of 20 cases of stakeholders from purposive sampling. The data was collected by using group interview and the content analysis and data triangulation methods were conducted for data analysis. The results indicated that the desirable characteristics of graduates consisted of 8 factors. Ranging from the highest factor loading to the lowest were practical experience, technology and communication competency, management knowledge and tools, managerial competency, problem solving and research competency, morality and ethics, adaptability and social skills. Moreover, the curriculum design according to the requirement of stakeholders should focus on Work Integrated Learning (WIL). The program structure should be modular based system which consisted of knowledge, skill and attribute.
