Abstract

Brownout syndrome occurs in workers who feel unhappy and bored with their suffering from some organizational conditions and systems. This causes them to have a lower engagement and finally resign from an organization. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the influence of organizational factors including leadership style, organizational culture, and organizational justice perception, on the brownout syndrome of the employees in Southern Economic Corridor. The sample comprised 322 workers in the Southern Economic Corridor area covering 4 provinces, namely Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. A questionnaire was employed as a tool for data collection. Statistics applied for the analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression. The findings revealed that the three factors most affecting the brownout syndrome of the employees in Southern Economic Corridor, sorted from high to low level of influence, were distributive justice perception, transformational leadership, and clan culture. Only transformational leadership had the same directional impact on the brownout syndrome, while the other two had an opposite effect. Altogether, the factors considered explaining 45.2% of the variance in the brownout syndrome of the employees in Southern Economic Corridor.
