A Feasibility Study of Investment on Precious Metal Extraction from Waste Print Circuit Board of S (Thailand) Company Limited Changwat Chon Buri

Abstract

             The study aimed to survey process of electronic circuit board assemblies, study on alternative of technical to investment on extraction precious metals from electronic waste circuit board, and analysis of financial feasibility. The primary data was collected from observation and in-depth interview with executive and the secondary data was collected from research paper, thesis and related website. All of data were analyzed by using descriptive and quantitative. Financial instruments is net present value, internal rate of return, modified internal rate of return, profitability index, and switching value test.

            The study indicated that the production of electronic circuit board assembly plant has waste which need disposed average 70.8 tons per year. Currently, there dispose by weighing sales at 2 hundred thousand bath per tons, which is lower by compared to the precious metals value inside the waste circuit boards that could be sale at 4.9 hundred thousand bath per tons. So the extraction of precious metals from waste circuit boards can increase value. The project has invested precious metal extraction process in full operation to extract precious metals have purity for market’s standards. The financial feasibility uses a discount rate WACC8.73 percent. The financial feasibility analysis results with age of 10 years are net present value (NPV) was -5,997,915 THB, internal rate of return (IRR) was 6.68 percent, modified rate of return (MIRR) was 7.52 percent and the index of profitability (PI) was 0.89. Therefore concluding of this project is unlikely to invest when compared with the estimated value of the indicators the criteria. The results of switching value tests need more income 4.09 percent or operating costs, Investment costs and total cost reduce more 6.23, 3.93, and 10.64 percent that will make the project worthwhile for investment
