A Study of Problems of Pre-Service Teachers Majoring in Chinese Language Teaching, Faculty of Education, Burapha University

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study the problems of the pre-service teachers, 2) to study the problems of teaching practicum categorizing according to the level of teaching, and 3) to study the problems of teaching practicum categorizing according to the size of the schools. The population used in the research was 31 pre-service teachers majoring in Chinese Language Teaching, Faculty of Education, Burapha University, academic year 2019. The tools used for data collection was a 5-rating scale questionnaire regarding the problems of teaching practicum. The results of this research were as follows: 1) Overall, the pre-service teachers had problems regarding teaching practicum at low level ( = 2.26,  = 1.05), and when considering each aspects, they had most problems of teacher duties followed by learning management and relationship with the school administrators and teachers respectively. 2) The results of the teaching practicum problems classifies by the level of teaching showed that the pre-service teachers who practiced teaching at lower secondary level had problems at a severe level ( = 2.51,  = 0.83), and for those who practiced teaching at upper secondary level, primary level and level of early childhood, they had the problems at low level. And 3) the results of the teaching practicum problems classifies by the size of the schools showed that the pre-service teachers who practiced teaching at the extra large and large schools had problems at a low level ( = 2.33,  = 0.97 and = 2.23,  = 0.61 respectively), and for those who practiced teaching in the medium sized schools, the problems was at the lowest level ( = 1.28,  = 0.00).
