Factors Affecting Work-School Conflict and Graduate Student Burnout
Main Article Content
Abstract
Graduate students who are also employed confront the dual challenge of balancing professional and academic commitments, which can potentially result in inter-role conflict. Unmanaged responsibilities can escalate into work-school conflict and burnout. This research aimed to analyze a causal model of factors affecting student burnout, with work-school conflict as a mediator in working students. A survey was conducted online with 160 graduate students using a 5-point rating scale. The results of this study revealed that the structural equation model of student burnout with work-school conflict as a mediator in working students was fitted with the empirical data (Chi-square (121, N = 160) = 232.818, p < .01, ð2/df = 1.924, RMSEA = .076, SRMR = .119, CFI = .906, TLI = .884). This indicates that student burnout is directly affected by work-school conflict, and also indirectly affected by job resources and school demands.
