Abstract

The objectives of this desertion was to analyze the model of desirable
Kathina performance in 26th B.E century. This research was Documentary
Research Methodology, field works questionnaire, and concluded with analysis
approaches. Kathinna was the cloth that the Buddha allow the lay Buddhist to
give to the group of monks and told them to make it into a robe. The season
during which a monastery may hold Kathina is one month long, beginning after
the full moon of the eleventh month in the Lunar calendar, usually October.
This practice in the time of the Buddha was no complicated like now a day; it
was simple and easy to perform. However, later on the Buddha allowed the lay
devotees to offer the completed robe to the monks, and the model of Kathina
festival that could preserved the original practice as presented by the Buddha,
accordingly to the Buddhist disciplinary rules, and supported to the spiritual
practices. The desirable Kathina ceremony must be free from alcohol, all vices,
and killing animal for meats unnecessary payment, and run accordingly to the
correct practice of Kathina; thus, this practice of Buddhism would bring great
advantages to the Kathinaofferers’ and the society.
