The Management Model of Senior Citizen Clubs Based on The Concept of Empowerment

Abstract
This research aims to develop management model of senior citizen club based on the concept of empowerment. The samples were 350 elders in the senior citizen clubs in the southern part of northeastern region, Thailand. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaires, interviews and records of group conversations. The indicators and
criteria of the evaluation were examined for their consistency reliability, appropriateness, utility, and possibility by 33 experts using the indexes of congruence (IOCs). Statistics were used for the data analysis including mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and Scheffe’s test.
The research found that the management model of the senior citizen clubs based on the concept of empowerment had three parts 1) Preface; 2) Components the model; 3) Conditions for key success and 7 Principles
for applying the model including: 1) Leadership for working empowerment
referring to personal and management behaviors of administrator
2) Creating a shared vision referring to discussion, collaborative
setting of goal, vision, mission, strategy, and practice; 3) Improving club organization – to reduce the working procedures; 4) Administering working system including performance and contribution; 5) Effective communication; 6) Strengthening the atmosphere at work including equality, trust, cooperative learning, acceptance and encouragement; as well as; 7) Creating a good culture in the organization. The findings of the study of the model indicated that empowerment of elderly was increased at the significance level of 0.01. Moreover, the evaluation of model was in accord with the principle and theory in terms of utility, appropriateness and possibility.
