Leadership Development of Student Council in Secondary School : A case Study at Pracharatthammakun School, The Secondary Educational Service Area Office 35

Abstract

This research was to study a model of developing the leadership of student council, to verify the coverage and suitability of student council, and to study the effect of developing the leadership of student council at Pracharatthammakun, the secondary educational service area office 35.The population with a purposive sampling was 50 student council committees. The instruments used in the study were 1) a model of developing leadership of the student council in secondary school 2) the leadership development of the student council achievement test 3) the attitude test for leadership of the student council and 4) the traits of leadership evaluation of the student council. The data was analyzed for mean, standard deviation and to compare the traits of leadership of the student council by the Dependent T-Test.


          The findings were as follows:


1) The leadership development model of the student council in secondary school were 3 parts; the introduction, the details of the activities and the content of the curriculum. The measuring instrument and the evaluation were the 6 unit of activity and content, unit 1 the relations of the leader, unit 2 the knowledge and ability of the leader, unit 3 the vision of the leader, unit 4 the leadership and the decision making, unit 5 the intelligence of the leader and unit 6 the personality of the leader.


2) The effect of the coverage of the leadership development model of the student council was at high level ( =4.35) and the suitability was also at high level ( =4.47)


3) A comparison of knowledge testing before and after the leadership development of the student council executive committee was found that the score after being developed was higher with a statistical significance at .01.The attitude test for leadership of the student council executive committee after being developed had higher with a statistical significance at .01.The evaluation of trait leadership of the student council executive committee was higher than before with a statistical significance at .01
