THE DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL COMPETENCE MODEL OF PERSONNEL IN THE NORTHEAST BORDER SCHOOL
Abstract
The purposes of this mixed-method research study were to design the components of a cultural competence of the personnel in North East border schools and evaluate its accuracy, possibility of the implementation and advantages. The study was divided into two phases. The first phase was a quantitative study. It was aimed to design the cultural competence model of the personnel in North East border schools. The sample consisted of 320 school administrators and teachers working at North East border schools. The data were collected by using questionnaires. The second phase was allocated to design the cultural competence model of the personnel in North East border schools. Then, the designed model was evaluated to investigate its accuracy, possibility of the implementation, and advantages.
Research findings:
The findings of this study revealed that the cultural competence composed of four main components. Four main components compounded cultural awareness, cultural knowledge, cultural skills, and cultural encounter. The cultural competence model of the personnel in North East border schools was ranked to be accurate, possible to be implemented, and beneficial at the highest level, including the name of the model, the principles and basic concept of the model, the objectives of the model, the characteristics of the model, and the approach to develop the cultural competence model.
