The Social Work in Buddhist Perspective: Teachers and Pupils

Abstract

This academic article aimed to present the principles of social work concerning teachers and pupils in Buddhist perspective. The Buddha legislated these principles that were called Vattara (function).   Vattara (function) was the formality that teachers and pupils performed with each other. They were two: Achariya vattara (function for teacher) was the principle that the pupils followed in order to take care of their teachers and Antevasika vattara (function for pupil) was the principle that the teachers followed in order to take care of their pupils. The meaning of Achariya (teacher) and Antevasika (pupil),in Pali, clearly showed their functions that they might perform with each other.

          The prosperity and happiness could occur all time they loved, respected, being honesty, instructed, depended on each other. whenever, the conflict occurred among them, everything would be broken down.
