Guidelines for operation to develop students’ desired characteristics of Schools under Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Primary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to study: 1) Create guidelines for operation to develop students’ desired characteristics and 2) assess the possibility and appropriateness to develop desired characteristics among students. Research methodology covers 2 stages: Stage 1 was to develop the guidelines to create students’ desired characteristics by studying documents and content validity being assessed by 5 experts, who were selected by a purposive sampling. The research instrument employed in the study was a 3-level rating scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Item-Objective Congruence (IOC). Stage 2 was conducted to assess possibilities and appropriateness in developing the desired characteristics of students. Sample groups consisted of 176 school administrators and teachers, who were selected by employing a stratified sampling. The research instrument employed in the study was a 5-level rating scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using Mean, Standard Deviation, and T-test.  

            The results indicates that: 1) the guidelines for operation to develop the desired characteristics among students consisted of 4 stages. They were 1.1) Preparation stage; 1.2) Operation stage, four components were included: Component 1: Integrated teaching in 8 departments. Component 2: Learning activities, Component 3: Special projects related to desired characteristics development. Component 4: Enhancing students’ desired characteristics though students’ daily activities; 1.3) Evaluation and 1.4) Improvement and solution. IOC between 0.8 - 1.0; and 2) The guidelines to develop students’ desired characteristics were found in a high level of possibility and appropriateness. The mean score was found higher than the set score at = 3.50 at a significantly statistical level of .05.
