Guidelines for Community Participation in Flooding Problem Management the Case Study of Mahaphram Subdistrict Community Bangban District Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: 1) study the level of community participation in flood management 2) compare community participation in flood management classified according to personal factors 3) propose guidelines for public participation in community flood management. It is mixed methods research. This is research that uses both quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods. The sample consisted of 344 people in Mahabrahm subdistrict municipality, Bang Ban district, Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed in terms of mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA and LSD.

The results of this research found that:

1. Community participation in flood management overall, it is at a high level.
2. People with different genders, ages, education levels, occupations, and average monthly incomes participate in flood problem management. overall different Statistically significant at the .05 level.
3. Guidelines for public participation in flood problem management. Mahabrahm Subdistrict Municipality Community, Bang Ban District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province There are 22 actions, decision making such as organizing community meetings by giving the public an opportunity to express their opinions about the problem. and the need to solve flood problems, Flood problem such as the municipality publicizing information for the public to know about the water situation to prepare to deal with flooding through online channels, Receiving benefits such as giving people the opportunity to participate in knowledge exchange forum activities or attend various flood prevention training sessions organized by the municipality, and evaluation and monitoring such as the municipality holding a community meeting to summarize operations after the flood.
