Abstract
A Development of Supplementary Books about Thai Language And Culture for Foreigners Whose Thai Language Knowledge is Between Grades 6 – 8 of an International School
The purposes of this study is to produce and seek for the efficiency of supplementary books on Thai language and culture for foreigners whose Thai language knowledge is between grades 6 – 8 in an international school and to study the teachers’ opinions and the students’ satisfaction level with the supplementary books. 5 supplementary books with 5 different stories is used to teach 20 foreign students of Lanna International School in the second semester of year 2011 and 6 foreign students from language schools in Chiang Mai.
The instruments used in this research were supplementary books, reading efficacy evaluation form, evaluation forms, questionnaires surveying the teachers’ opinions and questionnaires surveying student satisfaction. The statistics used to analyze data were percentage, mean and standard deviation. The study found that the supplementary books had efficiency E1/E2 at 94.31/93.38 efficiency, which was higher than determined requirement at 80/80 and the reading efficacy result of the entire sampling cluster passed standard requirement specified by the international schools at 60%. Opinions in various aspects of teachers teaching Thai as foreign language was at a fine level ( = 4.20). Also student satisfaction with the supplementary books at a fine level (
