A Study on Cultural and Regulatory Issues to Develop Chinese for Airline Business Textbooks in Thai Higher Education Institutions
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the content organization patterns on cultural knowledge and related practices in 16 Chinese and English textbooks for aviation business using content analysis to propose the idea of organizing the content of textbooks. According to the study's findings, 1) only 2 textbooks explicitly compiled cultural and regulatory issues; 2) no textbook covered topics related to culture and regulations under all the National Standards for Vocational Skills. 3) It was found insufficient to impart cultural knowledge solely through information; certain aspects needed to be learned through experience. To enhance teaching and learning, various information media were recommended. 4) The content of textbooks was not sufficient to keep up with the frequent changes in regulations; therefore, the appropriate texts should also have been updated correspondingly. The regulations needed to be sufficiently thorough, which was identified as the most crucial requirement.
