Abstract


The purposes of this research were to: 1) study community context. 2) Study factors affecting the success of local wisdom management, and 3) develop a model of Local Wisdom Capital Management Aiming at the Promotion of Productivity in Mahasawat Community, Nakhon Pathom Province. This study used mixed methods of quantitative research and qualitative research. The sample used for quantitative research was comprised of 364 members of Mahasawat Community, attained by simple random sampling. The tool used for data collection was a questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, means, and standard deviation. On the other hand, the sample used for qualitative research was comprised of 13 key informants used for in-depth interview, 7 experts used for a focus group drafted the development model, and 7 experts used for the model verification. The qualitative data was analysed by means of content analysis.


The results of the study were as follows:


  1. Mahasawat community has been founded in the regime of King Rama IV

who originated the digging of Mahasawat Canal in order to be used as a route to Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakorn Prathom Province. Most people in Mahasawat Community are farmers. At present, there has been effective utilization of local wisdom capital for the promotion of community productivity.


  1. The elements of local capital management of Mahasawat Community was comprised of 3 aspects, namely: cultural capital, human capital, and social capital. Each aspect was comprised of factors and process affected the success of the community local wisdom capital management.

  2. 3. The model developed by the researcher and experts was called SALADIN MODEL consisted of 7 factors, namely : 1) Self-reliance culture 2) Altruism culture 3) Leadership 4) Accountability 5) Do & Don’t 6) Integration of activities, and 7) Networks collaboration.

 The researcher recommended that all persons related to community development should realize the importance of local wisdom capital existing in community, and urge members of community to participate in the appropriate and sustainable development of community, in order that they could rely on themselves and reduce external dependency as much as possible.
