Isan Ban Hao : A Documentary Review from the Perspective of Ecocriticism

Abstract

Isan Ban Hao, a documentary by Weerasak Chansongsang, depicted an eco-paradigm in the reproduction of human discourse as a destroyer of nature. For this reason, human being must have a duty to restore and conserve nature through the presentation of the Isan image in the context of reproducing human discourses which depended on nature for their livelihood. It connected with cultivating ecological consciousness through stories and myths which elevated nature for holy things, evoking the past's united interaction between human and nature. When globalization brought prosperity to the area, the relationship between man and nature was different. There was a reproduction of the discourse which man destroyed nature. As a result, the societal development has gradually raised human awareness in the natural value. The documentary on Isan Ban Hao was one of the external reading books for students at the fundamentally educational level. This literature also attempted to teach eco-consciousness in the youth.
