Abstract

Xishuangbanna is located in the southwest of China. It is the principal residence of the Dai ethnic group. The tourism and cultural industries in Xishuangbanna have been developed for a long time; however most of the investment has come from other localities. Local farmers are relatively less involved in development of the tourism and cultural industry. It is the lack of opportunities to design learning. Therefore, this research has combined C-K design theory with educational characteristics to find modern teaching methods which are appropriate for farmers. From the experiment in teaching C-K design theory to farmers through classroom learning, farmers could enhance the ability on design products which realized local uniqueness. It could make money from selling products, and can highly replenish the tourism marketing and cultural products for the local area.
