Administrative Factors Affecting the Readiness to ASEAN Community amongst the Local Government Officials in Phon Thong District

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the readiness’s level to ASEAN community amongst the local government officials in Phon Thong district, Roi Et province, 2) to compare the readiness to ASEAN community amongst the local government officials in Phon Thong district, Roi Et province, 3) to study administrative factors affecting the readiness to ASEAN community amongst the local government officials in Phon Thong district, Roi Et province, and 4) to recommend for improvement of the readiness to ASEAN community amongst the local government officials in Phon Thong district, Roi Et province. The samples were 221 officials. The research instruments used were questionnaires. Statistical tools employed were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent-samples t-test, One-Way ANOVA, stepwise multiple regression and content analysis to analyze qualitative data. The main research findings revealed that; 1) The overall result of readiness to ASEAN community was in a high level, the attitude was ranked the highest, followed by the skills, and the knowledge was in the lowest rank. 2) The readiness to ASEAN community classified by sex, education, position, division, and working experience were not difference, and age was significantly difference at the .05 level. 3) Two administrative factors consisted of the skills and the share values affected the readiness to ASEAN community which could totally explain the dependent variables at 58.60 (R² = .586) with .05 level of statistical significance. And 4) the recommendations for improvement of the readiness to ASEAN community mainly included; the organization should provide language training and technology skills training to local personnel, and promote to adopt new technologies using in the offices.
