The Promotion of Folk Toy Media for Children and Youth Receivers, Fa-ham Sub-District, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract
This research aimed to 1) study the status of traditional toy media that were divided into four types, including Ba Khang Wo, Kong-Kaeng, Bamboo-copter, and Jug-Jun, 2) study the internal and external factors that affecting the lack of popularity, and 3) set the guidelines for promoting the wisdom of folk toy media for the local children and youths in Fa-ham Sub-District, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province.The research samples were the village scholars, elderly people, Wat Kha Yao teachers and students, and Sa Lee Ping Jai Kaew Kwang local youth culture center. This qualitative research used the interviews and discussion and participatory observation as methods for transferring the folk toy media. The results indicated that 1) the wisdoms of folk toy media was lacking the storytellers and new generation receivers, and therefore requiring to identify the successors, 2) the factors that affecting the lack of popularity in folk toy media among the local children and groups of youths were from the internal factors of the wisdoms of folk toy media themselves, and also the internal and external factors of the local community. and 3) the guidelines to promote the wisdom of folk toy media for the local children and youths in the community were to promote the potential of storytellers by development of knowledge, accumulation and increase of the knowledge resources as well as analysis of the receivers in terms of contents and messages by integration approaches for both contents and formats of the knowledge transfer through the use of modern media.For communication channel, the community should provide the opportunities for children and youths to participate in the local toy production process, preparation of local curriculum, dissemination of local toys through various media and public relations. For the receivers, the community should use the reinforcement strategies that involving the knowledge, affection and practices as well as providing the opportunities, forum, or chanel for the learners to show their local wisdom. This also included the other promotion methods, including the application of the folk toy media to the local policies and the extension of the wisdom of folk toy media network and collaboration with the other institutions.
