Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study the history and culture of Lao Song ethnic groups in Nakhon Pathom Province; 2) create the historic and cultural database of Lao Song ethnic in Nakhon Pathom Province via electronic media; and 3) preserve the history and culture of the Lao Song ethnic groups in Nakhon Pathom Province. The samples were Lao Song people in Bang Pla subdistrict, Nakhon Pathom Province including community leaders, village elders, teachers, abbots, and various organizations in the village, housewives, youth groups, and ritual leaders. The data collection was collected by in-depth interviews, and focus group. The research results were found that Lao Song in Bang Pla Subdistrict, Bang Len District, Nakhon Pathom Province was a Lao Song group which migrated from Phetchaburi Province to settle in this area from the beginning of the reign of King Rama V. At present, Lao Song ethnic groups in Bang Pla Subdistrict have densely settled in 4 villages, namely Ban Ko Rat (Moo 11), Ban Koh Rat (Moo 12), Ban Ko Rat Pattana. (Moo 14) ,and Ban Ko Rat Tha San (Moo 15). They have still maintained their identities as well as their spoken language, dress, food, and traditions, especially the ancestor offering ceremony which has rigorously been practiced from the past to the present.
