พระราชบัญญัติคุ้มครองข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล พ.ศ. 2562 เป็นกฎหมายคุ้มครองข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลซึ่งเป็นบุคคลทั่วไป และได้ประกาศใช้อย่างเป็นทางการแล้วในปัจจุบัน ดังนั้นทุกหน่วยงานต้องตระหนักถึงความสำคัญและปฏิบัติตามกฎหมายฉบับนี้เรื่องการนำข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลไปใช้ซึ่งจำเป็นต้องได้รับความยินยอมหรือขออนุญาตก่อน ห้องสมุดเป็นหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการนำข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลไปใช้ในงานต่าง ๆ จึงจำเป็นต้องศึกษาตัวบทกฎหมายและปฏิบัติตาม เพื่อป้องกันการร้องเรียนหรือการฟ้องร้องซึ่งอาจเกิดขึ้นได้หากเจ้าของข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลไม่ยินยอมหรือไม่อนุญาตให้นำข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลนั้นไปใช้
