A Study of Thai Architecture Design through Related Terms for Thai Architecture Program, Chulalongkorn University

Abstract

The purpose of this research article is to analyze the use, meaning and scope of the word associated with Thai architectural design, in which focusing only on pedagogy of Thai architecture program, both bachelor and master degree in the Department of Architecture, the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University.


The research methodology is divided into (1) a compilation of words from classroom observations (2) a vocabulary and classification of data (3) compilations of word definitions from various literature and comparative studies (4) group discussions between lecturers (5) summary issues for expert interviews (6) interview with an expert who is a founder of the program (7) analysis of data (8) summary of study results.


It was found to be classified into four categories: (1) Principle in Thai Architecture and Design Process, (2) Architectural elements, (3) Materials and construction methods, and (4) Decorative patterns, and selected categories (1) and (2) for detailed study. There was attempted to describe the newly emerging type of building in Thai architecture, with unprecedented uses, which were synthesized from the experience of Pinyo Suwankiri. From his perspective, it will help guide the student's approach to a systematic course of study.
