CORONAVIRUS DISEASE SITUATION (COVID-19) AFFECTING THE CHANGE IN TRADITIONS AND CULTURES OF THAI-SO. CASE STUDY OF THAI-SO PEOPLE KUSUMAN DISTRICT, SAKON NAKHON PROVINCE

Abstract

           This article aims to study the coronavirus disease situation (covid-19) affecting the change in traditions and cultures of thai-so. Case study of Thai-so people kusuman district, Sakon Nakhon province. Also in Thailand, that has affected from the Coronavirus disease situation too. Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Health requires the disease control measures to control the spread of the disease and the Ministry of Culture has issued the announcementabout the guidelines for organizing an event of festivals, traditions, religious ceremonies and other ceremonies during the epidemic of COVID-19 and or The suspension or postponement of traditional activities affects traditionand culture of Thai-So in Kusuman district, Sakon Nakhon province with a strictly traditional pattern. For example, the Thai-So festival, there will be no exhibitions, no performance events; mask wearing and social distancing is required at the “Thai So festival”. However, the ancestors' rituals are still performed in the same way. Regarding the culture of birth, marriage, and death of the Thai So ethnic group affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the most obvious example is physical changes brought on by government regulations. As an example, it is necessary to wear a mask when performing the gathering rites and vaccination is also required for some gatherings. Such physical changes have never been seen before in history.  However, the Thai So people who adhere to their culture still strictly follow the sequence of ethnic rituals.
