THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP ENHANCING PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS IN THE OFFICE OF ROI-ET PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA 1

Abstract

This research aims to study current conditions, desirable conditions, and the need to design and evaluate the program to enhance academic leadership for school administrators in the Office of Roi-Et Primary Educational Service Area 1. The research method was divided into 2 phases: Phase 1 was to study current conditions, desirable conditions, and the need to enhance academic leadership for school administrators in the Office of Roi-Et Primary Educational Service Area 1. The sample group consisted of 28 school administrators and 310 teachers, totaling 338 people in the Office of Roi-Et Primary Educational Service Area 1 selected through the stratified random sampling techniques. Phase 2 was to create and evaluate the program to enhance academic leadership for school administrators in the Office of Roi-Et Primary Educational Service Area 1. The informant groups consisted of 5 model school administrators and 5 experts assessing the program. The research instruments were questionnaires, interview forms, and assessment forms. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the need index.

The results revealed that; 1. Enhancing academic leadership for school administrators in current condition was at a highest level in desirable condition was at a highest level and the analysis of the need were in order from high to low as 1) setting goal and mission 2) Curriculum and Instruction Management 3) Goal Setting and Mission and 4) Fostering an Academic Environment in Schools, respectively. 2. The program to enhance the academic leadership of school administrators consisted of 5 components: 1) Principle of program 2) Objective 3) Content knowledge and activity 4) Development Process 5) Measurement and evaluation. The contents of the program consisted of 4 modules: Module 1 setting goal and mission, Module 2 Curriculum and Instruction Management, Module 3 Goal Setting and Mission, and Module 4 Fostering an Academic Environment in Schools. The total duration of the program is 100 hours, using the 70:20:10 principle to enhance academic leadership. The results of overall program evaluation were highest level appropriate, and the possibilities are at the highest level.
