Publication Ethics

Ethical Guidelines for Publication in the Chiang Mai University Journal of Economics (CMUJE)

 

The Chiang Mai University Journal of Economics (CMUJE), under the administration of the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, accepts academic and research articles in both Thai and English related to economics. The journal has been recognized by the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) as a Tier 1 (TCI Tier 1) journal since 2017 and later as a Tier 2 (TCI Tier 2) journal in 2020. To ensure compliance with international publication standards, the journal has established ethical guidelines for academic and research publications in both Thai and English.

 


 

Plagiarism

Plagiarism, defined as incorporating content from other articles into one's work without proper permission and citation, is strictly prohibited. If plagiarism is detected, the article will be immediately rejected.

 


 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor and Editorial Board

  • The editor and editorial board are responsible for reviewing submitted articles to determine their suitability for the journal before forwarding them for peer review.

  • They must verify the accuracy of article content after the author has revised it based on the reviewers’ comments.

  • They must actively oversee and ensure that the article evaluation process aligns with the journal’s objectives.

  • Editorial decisions must be made objectively and without bias, irrespective of an author’s race, religion, nationality, gender, age, or institutional affiliation. Transparency and integrity must be maintained, and any exchange of information between reviewers and authors must not be altered or misrepresented.

  • The editor and editorial board must maintain confidentiality regarding the identities of authors and reviewers. The peer review process must remain strictly confidential.

  • The editor and editorial board must evaluate articles without personal interest or conflicts of interest with reviewers and authors.

  • They must continuously improve and uphold the quality of the journal while ensuring that the review process adheres to international ethical standards.

  • Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must evaluate articles based on academic quality and the merit of their content, without personal bias or subjective opinions.

  • Reviewers must have expertise in the subject matter of the articles they evaluate.

  • Reviewers must provide constructive feedback using the journal’s official evaluation form.

  • If reviewers detect ethical violations—such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or data falsification—they must report these issues to the editorial board.

  • Reviewers who accept an article for evaluation must submit their reviews within the specified timeframe.

  • Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.


 

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must submit original articles that have never been published or are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Authors must not engage in plagiarism or present another’s work as their own.

  • Any assistance or contributions received must be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.

  • Authors must revise their articles based on reviewers' and editors’ feedback and submit the revised manuscript within the given deadline.

  • Authors must properly cite all sources, including text, images, tables, or any data used in their article.

  • Authors must comply with all journal requirements, including formatting guidelines.

  • Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
