The Priority Needs of Academic Management of Private Secondary School Based on the Concept of Creative and Innovative Thinking Skills

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the priority needs of academic management of private secondary schools based on the concept of creative and innovative thinking skills. The population was 532 Private Secondary Schools in Thailand that provided instructed up to Matayom 6 under the Office of the Private Education Commission. The sample groups used in this study were 223 private secondary schools which were selected using multi-stage random sampling. The instrument used in this study was a 5-level rating scaled questionnaire to ask about the current conditions and the desirable conditions of the academic management of private secondary schools based on the concept of creative and innovative thinking skills. The questionnaire was completed by 636 people consisted of school directors, deputy directors, and teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and prioritizing needs using the priority needs index (PNImodified). The research found that the highest priority needs in academic management of private secondary schools based on the concept of creative and innovative thinking skills is learning management (PNImodified = 0.278), followed by learning assessment/evaluation and curriculum development, in order. The research found that the highest priority need for creative thinking skills is original thinking (PNImodified = 0.295), when looking at the innovative thinking skills, the highest priority need was lateral thinking (PNImodified = 0.283).
