Synthesis of Research related to the Study of Service Potential Assessment for Strategy Development of Healthy Long Stay Business in Thailand

This article is part of the research with an objective in exploring the service potential of long-stay businesses in Thailand. The development of long-stay business has leaded to the formation of policies and strategies proposals. A systemic review of the literature, in-depth interviews with entrepreneurs and non-participating observations were utilized in this study. The results compiled according to the 7S model conceptual framework (1) marketing strategies are applied but not having network business. Local entrepreneurs lack of universal skills and experiences (2) organisational structure and the chain of command are divided into departments according to responsibilities (3) division between primary and secondary systems for operation management but less usage in technology support system. Database systems linked to relevant agencies have not been set up (4) use of diverse management style using long-term hospital operators (5) selection of competent personal, especially the ones who have specific skill. It is incentivized by providing rewards and incentives (6) skill, focus on Thai culture with individual abilities make employees have service skills. But still lacking of foreign language (7) a common value is shared amongst people within the organization. That’s making the organization to be strong. The results from this study has been compiled into a draft of Thailand’s long-stay business development strategy with 5 core principles: human resource development and readiness; the development of communication and public relation systems; strategies in management mechanisms using the building of networks and business alliances; utilization of database and information systems; management promotion strategies of developing utilities, transport and safety
