Abstract

COVID-19 has casted economic and social losses all over the globe. Each country has started prevent and remedial measures suggested by WHO with adaptation to local situation. Thailand has arranged some plausive measures that could successfully curb the spread in the first phase. However, the spread has multiplied in the 2nd and 3rd phases. At the middle of year 2021 it is not able to reduce the spread. Some of the epidemic prevention and control measures used are successful while others failed. Number of infected patients exceeds the capacity of the medical services. This article provides basic information about covid-19, chronology of events around the world, epidemic prevention and control measures, loss, success and failure of operation, guidelines for increasing efficiency in the prevention and the epidemic control of covid-19 in Thailand. Issues to be improved include database linking all facets of operation, concept of operations, surveillance system, counter-action for misinformation and vaccination.
