A Study of Quality of Life Among Nursing Students in Private Higher Education Institutions, Central Region

Abstract

This descriptive study research design was conducted to study and compare the quality of life among nursing students in private higher education institutions, central region. The sample size of 568 among first to forth years nursing students in the academic year, 2018 from 4 institutions. The research instruments consisted of 2 parts: (1) the personal data and (2) WHOQOL-BREF-THAI questionnaire. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and One-way ANOVA. To test the differences between pairs, LSD was administered. The results of the study revealed that the overall quality of life and each dimension was at a moderate level. When considering mean score of quality of life certain in different academic year found a high level among first-year ( = 3.42, SD = 0.57), second-year ( = 3.37, SD = 0.58), fourth-year ( = 3.33, SD = 0.53), and third-year students ( = 3.29, SD = 0.61) respectively. The result also showed that the difference academic year was found to influence the quality of life with statistically significance. LSD found that the second-year and fourth-year student as well as first-year and third Years student were found to influence the quality of life in physical dimension with statistically significance. The results indicate that academic instructors and school of nursing should emphasize quality of life among nursing students and concern of teaching methods, activities and a service system to promote good quality of life considering to the difference academic year of study.
