การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาปัญหาและความต้องการการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในการบริหารงานวิชาการ (2) เปรียบเทียบปัญหาและความต้องการการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในการบริหารงานวิชาการ (3) หาแนวทางแก้ปัญหาการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในการบริหารงานวิชาการ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้คือผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูผู้สอนในสถานศึกษาสังกัดองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นในจังหวัดปทุมธานี จำนวน 189 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลคือ แบบสอบถามความคิดเห็น สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลคือค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบค่าที ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูผู้สอนมีความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับปัญหาในการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในการบริหารงานวิชาการอยู่ในระดับมาก ส่วนความเห็นเกี่ยวกับความต้องการการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในการบริหารงานวิชาการอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด ผลการเปรียบเทียบความคิดเห็นด้านปัญหาพบว่า ผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูผู้สอนที่มีตำแหน่งหน้าที่และระดับการศึกษาแตกต่างกันมีความคิดเห็นต่อการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศในการบริหารงานวิชาการแตกต่างกันที่ระดับ .05 และผลการวิเคราะห์แนวทางการแก้ไขพบว่า ต้องการให้เปิดศูนย์คอมพิวเตอร์ให้ครูได้ใช้เพิ่มมากขึ้น เปิดอบรมการใช้สื่อเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ ควรจัดสรรเพิ่มจำนวนเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ให้มีเพียงพอกับความต้องการ พัฒนาโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ที่เกี่ยวข้องมาใช้ทางด้านวิชาการ ติดตั้งอินเทอร์เน็ตเพิ่มเติม จัดสรรหาบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ความเข้าใจในการใช้เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศให้มากขึ้น
