ABSTRACT
This study aims to explain the concept of marriage engagement between Bahraini family law, which was enforced in the years 2017, and compare it with Thai law. In writing this research, the researcher relied on the inductive and comparative method.
According to the research, it has been discovered that the laws of Bahrain consider engagement as a promise to marry in the future. It is not a marriage or a full contract, and the woman remains an ordinary woman after the engagement. It is not permissible for him to see any part of her beauty other than her face, and they are not allowed to be alone together. Additionally, he is not considered her Mahram (guardian), and thus, she cannot travel with him. Similar foundations and practices are found in Thai laws as well.
