Development of Mindfulness-Based Well-Being Promotion Program for Employees in Organizations in Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research and development study aims to establish the Mindfulness-Based Well-Being Promotion Program (MBWB) as an intervention for enhancing employees’ well-being in organizations in Thailand. The current study was conducted using the ADDIE framework, which includes analyzing (A) the need for, designing (D), developing (D), implementing (I), and evaluating (E) the MBWB program. Data were collected through qualitative and quantitative methods across the ADDIE phases. The initial findings identified five key components of the MBWB program: (1) participants’ understanding of the nature of mindfulness and its practice, (2) gaining insight into their values and behaviors, (3) goal setting and development of an individual mindfulness-based behavior change plan, (4) self-mindfulness practice sustained over two months and (5) mechanism for monitoring and supporting individuals’ mindfulness practice and behavior change. Additionally, mindfulness specialists validated the MBWB program as appropriate for research participants. Following the implementation of the MBWB program among 45 Thai participants, a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design was utilized. The results revealed a significant increase in participants’ mindfulness, well-being, career satisfaction, and work engagement compared to their baseline levels before entering the program. In conclusion, the findings indicated that the MBWB program is an effective intervention for enhancing employees’ well-being.
