The Mediating Role of Work Passion in the Relationship between Organizational Climate and Organizational Citizenship Behavior: A Case Study of the Operational Staff at a Higher Education Institution
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the levels of organizational climate, work passion, and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among personnel, as well as to investigate the relationships between organizational climate, work passion, and OCB with work passion as a mediating variable. This quantitative research study used a questionnaire with content validity and internal consistency to collect data from 361 operational staff members at a higher education institution. Path analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses. The results revealed that operational personnel reported high levels of organizational climate, harmonious passion, and OCB, while obsessive passion was found at a low level. Organizational climate demonstrated positive relationships with harmonious passion, obsessive passion, and OCB. Harmonious passion showed a positive relationship with OCB, whereas obsessive passion exhibited a negative relationship with OCB. The results revealed that both harmonious passion and obsessive passion partially mediated the relationship between organizational climate and organizational citizenship behavior.
