Doctoral education is vital to national development since it produces doctoral graduates who have knowledge and skills in research, create new body of knowledge, and provide social guidance. The objectives of this article were to investigate the benefits that graduates gained from doctoral education and the recommendations they provided for the betterment of the program’s quality. Single case study research was conducted at the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Public Administration, Faculty of Political Science, Ramkhamhaeng University (PHD-PA-RU). Findings revealed that the PHD-PA-RU was established 23 years ago and produced approximately 300 graduates over time. Graduates are working in public organizations, public enterprises, and private organizations in several sectors. Direct benefits they obtained from the program included the body of knowledge from the core courses, research methodology, as well as the research process beneficial in administrative tasks at all levels. They had more understandings in the public and business administration, skills in conducting research, and higher level of English proficiency. Indirect benefits comprised skills in systematic thinking and coordinating. Other attributes included perseverance, confidence and recognition, ego reduction and broader perspectives. Graduates recommended that the program encourage and support students to publish academic articles in recognized academic journals and to present papers at national and international conferences.
