บทความนี้วิเคราะห์ร่องรอยของอุดมการณ์อนุรักษนิยมผ่าน การพิจารณาทางวาทกรรมของชื่อและอารัมภบทในรัฐธรรมนูญฉบับแรกของไทย พ.ศ. 2475 โดยมุ่งเน้นการทำความเข้าใจถ้อยคำที่ถูกเลือกใช้ และความหมายที่ซ่อนอยู่ในกระบวนการให้ความชอบธรรมกับอำนาจรัฐในห้วงเปลี่ยนผ่านจากสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชย์สู่ระบอบใหม่ บทความเสนอว่าทั้งชื่อรัฐธรรมนูญและอารัมภบทไม่ได้เป็นเพียงฉันทามติร่วมสมัยของคณะราษฎร หากยังเป็นพื้นที่ของการประนีประนอมทางวาทกรรมกับสถาบันกษัตริย์ ซึ่งเป็นแกนกลางของโครงสร้างอำนาจก่อนหน้าการเปลี่ยนแปลง 2475 นอกจากนี้ยังชี้ให้เห็นว่า ในรัฐธรรมนูญฉบับถาวร ปีเดียวกัน อารัมภบทยังคงใช้ถ้อยคำที่สะท้อนพระราชอำนาจในการให้กำเนิดกฎหมายสูงสุด ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นถึงความต่อเนื่องของโครงสร้างความคิดแบบอนุรักษนิยมในการรับรู้และออกแบบอำนาจอธิปไตย บทความนี้จึงมีส่วนช่วยขยายพื้นที่วิเคราะห์ในทางวาทกรรมของรัฐธรรมนูญไทย โดยเสนอให้เข้าใจรัฐธรรมนูญไม่ใช่เพียงฐานกฎหมาย แต่เป็นสนามการเมืองของความหมายและการต่อรองทางอุดมการณ์
