The Corporate Culture and Work Attitudes that correlate with the Organizational Commitment of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study personal factors affecting the Organizational Commitment: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok 2) To study the relationship between the Corporate Culture and Working Attitudes and the Organizational Commitments of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok. The population was 196 employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok. They also used accidental sampling for 100 samples. The tools in this research are divided into two parts as follows: 1) a questionnaire regarding personal characteristics of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok and 2) a questionnaire about Corporate Culture, Work Attitudes, and Organizational Commitment. The questionnaires had a content validity ratio (CVR) with the Lawshe method from 14 experts and the reliability by internal consistency about the alpha coefficient of the Corporate Culture questionnaire as follows:- 1) Power Orientation Culture equal to .713, 2) Role Orientation Culture equal to .868, 3) Task Orientation Culture equal to .712 and 4) People Orientation Culture equal to .828. The question of Work Attitudes is as follows:1) Cognitive Component equal to .819, 2) Affective Component equal to .831, and 3) Behavioral Component equal to .921. Moreover, the question of the Organizational Commitment is as follows:1) Affective Commitment is equal to .804, 2) Continuous Commitment is equal to .849, and 3) Normative Commitment is equal to .850. The researcher collected the data using SPSS for Windows (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences for Windows) computer program.

The research results found that the highest number of employees in a Case Study of a Company in Bangkok was 66 females (66.00%). There were 31 persons in the age group 40 years but not more than 50 years (31.00%). The education level is lower than that of a bachelor’s degree, which was 70 persons (70.00%). There were 49 persons about working years in the group of less than five years (49.00%). The employees' income less than 9,000 baht was 64 persons (64.00%). Moreover, the result of the questionnaire score showed that the average score for Corporate Culture overall was 3.98 and the Standard Deviation (SD) at .50, which was a high level; the average score for Work Attitudes overall was 4.03, and the Standard Deviation (SD) at .42 which was high level, and the average score of the Organizational Commitment was 4.04 and Standard Deviation (SD) at .56 which was high level also. The hypothesis testing found that 1) The personal factors of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok in different personal factors about age and income was different in the Organizational Commitment at statistical significance at the .05 except, the different personal factors of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok such as gender, education level, and year of working was not different in the Organizational Commitment, 2) The Corporate Culture is correlate with the Corporate Commitment of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok in overall at statistical significance at the .01 level which correlation coefficient was moderate level at .743.** and 3) Work Attitudes is correlate with the Corporate Commitment of employees: A Case Study of a Company in Bangkok in overall at statistical significance at the .01 level which correlation coefficient was moderate level at .796.**
