แนวคิดและการให้ความหมายของคนไทยต่อธรรมชาติ

งานวิจัยเรื่องแนวคิดและความหมายของธรรมชาติของคนไทย มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อ (1) เข้าใจความหมายของธรรมชาติของคนไทยและความหมายของสิ่งแวดล้อมของคนไทย (2) เข้าใจปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อความหมายของธรรมชาติของคนไทย (3) สรุปแนวคิดที่มีต่อธรรมชาติของคนไทย และ (4) เสนอแนะการนำแนวคิดที่มีต่อธรรมชาติของคนไทยไปใช้ในการส่งเสริมการอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติเชิงปฏิบัติ และใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณโดยใช้แบบสอบถาม
ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การให้ความหมายของคนไทยต่อธรรมชาติสรุปได้ 8 ความหมาย ได้แก่ ธรรมชาติคือธรรมชาติอันบริสุทธิ์หรือป่าไม้ ธรรมชาติคือสิ่งที่มีประโยชน์ ธรรมชาติคือสิ่งสวยงามรื่นรมย์และสุนทรียภาพ ธรรมชาติคือสภาพแวดล้อมโดยรอบ ธรรมชาติคือการอยู่ร่วมกัน ธรรมชาติคือปัญญา ธรรมชาติคือความจริง หลักการ และกระบวนการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ และธรรมชาติคือสิ่งต่าง ๆ หลายสิ่งที่ประกอบเข้าด้วยกัน การให้ความหมายของคนไทยต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมของคนไทย มี 8 กลุ่มความหมาย ได้แก่ สิ่งที่อยู่รอบตัวที่มองเห็นได้และมองไม่เห็นทั้งที่เกิดขึ้นเองตามธรรมชาติและมนุษย์สร้างขึ้น ธรรมชาติ ภูมิทัศน์หรือวิวทิวทัศน์ คนหรือสังคม วัฒนธรรม สิ่งที่มนุษย์สร้างขึ้น สิ่งที่เป็นปัจจัยในการดำรงอยู่ และสภาวะที่เราดำรงชีวิตอยู่ นอกจากนั้นปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อความหมายของธรรมชาติของคนไทยมีทั้งปัจจัยทางประชากรศาสตร์ ปัจจัยทางสังคมเศรษฐกิจ ปัจจัยทางสังคมวัฒนธรรม ประสบการณ์ในสภาพแวดล้อม และความผูกพันกับสถานที่ รวม 10 ปัจจัย ได้แก่ เพศภาวะ อายุ ระดับการศึกษา อาชีพ ที่อยู่ปัจจุบัน ภูมิภาค สภาพแวดล้อมที่อาศัยอยู่ ระยะเวลาที่อาศัยในที่อยู่ปัจจุบัน บ้านเกิด และระยะเวลาที่อาศัยในบ้านเกิด และสรุปแนวคิดที่มีต่อธรรมชาติของคนไทยได้ 6 แนวความคิด ได้แก่ ธรรมชาติคือทรัพยากร ธรรมชาติคือพื้นที่ธรรมชาติ ป่า และมรดกที่ต้องสงวนรักษาไว้ ธรรมชาติคือทรัพยากร ธรรมชาติคือสิ่งที่ใช้งานได้และต้องบำรุงรักษา ธรรมชาติคือสิ่งค้ำจุน ธรรมชาติคือกระบวนการ และธรรมชาติคือความจริง ความรู้ และข้อมูล
