การศึกษาการออกแบบเชิงปฏิบัติการที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราว สำหรับนักศึกษาสถาปัตยกรรม

บทคัดย่อ

ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงหรือภาคอีสาน ที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวัฒนธรรมการสร้างที่พักอาศัยมาตั้งแต่อดีตจนกระทั่งกลายเป็นที่พักของผู้มีรายได้น้อยในเขตชุมชนเมือง ปัจจุบันรัฐบาลได้มีนโยบายสนับสนุนโครงการในการปรับปรุงสภาพความเป็นอยู่และคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนให้ดีขึ้น การปรับปรุงการอยู่อาศัยเป็นหัวข้อที่สำคัญยิ่ง โดยทั่วไปที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวมักจะถูกก่อสร้างโดยผู้อยู่อาศัยเองด้วยข้อจำกัดของความรู้พื้นฐานในการออกแบบและก่อสร้าง สถาปนิกในประเทศไทยได้ตระหนักถึงปัญหานี้และต้องการมีส่วนช่วยในการสร้างมาตรฐานที่ดีสำหรับการอยู่อาศัยของผู้มีรายได้น้อย โดยเฉพาะที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวซึ่งมีมากขึ้นในชุมชนเมือง การสร้างพื้นฐานที่ดีจึงเป็นเรื่องสำคัญ ที่สถาบันการศึกษาจะต้องแสดงบทบาทในการถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้และการสร้างฐานความรู้ให้นักศึกษาในเรื่องการออกแบบและก่อสร้างเพื่อนำไปใช้เป็นประโยชน์ต่อความต้องการของชุมชนต่อไป

ในวิชาเลือกสำหรับภาคเรียนฤดูร้อนของนักศึกษาคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น (803407 หัวข้อเรื่องพิเศษทางสถาปัตยกรรม จำนวน 3 หน่วยกิต) ในการศึกษา “การออกแบบเชิงปฏิบัติการที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราว” นี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะช่วยให้นักศึกษาได้เข้าใจกระบวนการออกแบบและก่อสร้างที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวด้วยตัวเอง ทั้งนี้งานวิจัย ที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราว กรณีศึกษาจังหวัดขอนแก่น (Chumnan, Nopadon, and Kulasri 2007) จะถูกใช้เป็นฐานประกอบการออกแบบในชั้นเรียนนี้ โดยผลงานสุดท้ายจะเป็นที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวขนาดพื้นที่ประมาณ 2.5 x 5 เมตร ของนักศึกษา 4 กลุ่ม การเรียนเริ่มจากการวางฐานความรู้พื้นฐานการบรรยายของคณาจารย์ในเรื่องการออกแบบและการก่อสร้าง โดยมีรายละเอียดเกี่ยวกับ การเลือกใช้วัสดุ การวางแผนงบประมาณ และกระบวนการก่อสร้าง จากนั้นเป็นการประกวดแบบเบื้องต้นของที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราว การคัดเลือกผลสุดท้ายจะเหลือผลงาน 4 ชิ้นในการพัฒนาเพื่อการก่อสร้างจริง ภายใต้ข้อจำกัดของงบประมาณ วัสดุ เวลา และจำนวนสมาชิกในแต่ละกลุ่ม

ผลงานการก่อสร้างที่พักอาศัยชั่วคราวทั้ง 4 หลัง ประสบความสำเร็จในการก่อสร้างในพื้นที่คณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ผลของการศึกษาทำให้นักศึกษาได้มีโอกาสออกแบบและก่อสร้างจริง ได้แก้ปัญหาในการออกแบบ การก่อสร้าง การจัดการงบประมาณ และการทำงานในระยะเวลาที่กำหนด

A Study of Temporary Shelter Design Built by Architectural Students

In Northeast of Thailand or I-San, temporary shelter has been traditionally developed for low income people both in rural and urban areas. Recently, there are many Thai government funded projects aimed to help improved the quality of life, where improvement of places for living is one of the most important issue. However, a temporary shelter is previously built by owner with limited basic knowledge of architectural design and construction. Architects in Thailand, nowadays, show more concerned in the topic of helping low income people to have a more standardized living place, especially, a temporary shelter for the poor. To build fundamental knowledge on this subject, architectural education has to play an important role of designing and constructing architecture to serve the community’s basic needs.

A summer elective course for architectural, 803407 Special Topics in Architecture, the students at Khon Kaen University, Thailand, was designed to help student understand the process in designing and building a temporary shelter by themselves. Based on the research, Temporary Shelter for I-San community: case studies in Khon Kaen, Thailand (Chumnan, Nopadon, and Kulasri 2007), four groups of students got the opportunity to design and build a 2.5 x 5.0 m. temporary shelters. The study began with attending lecture series to set up basic knowledge on design and construction which includes materials selections, budget allocations, construction process; then, a design competition among students was held. Four different designs were picked for construction detail development. The limitations of the temporary shelter were set by cost, materials, time and number of students participation in each one.

Four temporary shelters have been successfully built in the faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University; as a result, the students had the opportunity to deal with real life design and construction situation, facing various problems from designing, to construction, to budget allocation and time frame.
