Abstract

This article concludes that the enthronement and the patronage of Buddhism of King Ashoka the Great brought about a great change in Jambũdĩpa. When King Ashoka paid homage to Buddhism as his religion, a number of people had also turned to study and pay homage to Buddhism. The tradition and culture had been flourished. He was, besides, the president of supporting the third general convocation of the Sangha, and invited the venerable monks to be separated into nine groups in order to announce the Dhamma in various kingdoms.
